The Sunderland Echo recently reported on the "save our ship of light" fund raising appeal which was announced in January 2016,

The organisers hope that LV no,72 can be purchased, and taken back to Sunderland to be restored and represent some of the city’s historic ship building past. The initial January £50,000 fund raising target has now been raised to £100,000 when the gofundme page was relaunched

26th February -

Save our Ship of Light facebook page is now live, and you can make a donation through their gofundme page to help save this historic lightvessel for future generations.
